Come celebrate African arts and culture at this Festival packed with dance workshops and performances. The African rhythms and drum beats are created to make you move your body and bones and shake it.
With live performances from local and International Artists, The Festival will include an African Safari Marketplace, Arts & Craft sale, a multi- ethnic food court and much more.
The annual African Dance Festival will be held on "August 26 - August 28, 2011". The Community theme of the 2011 Festival is "Eliminating Drugs and Violence in our Communities".
The 2011 Edmonton African Dance Festival will honour individuals who have exceptionally distinguished themselves in the field of leadership, government/public sector, business/private sector and not-for-profit organizations. In particular, awards will focus on leaders who have been or are still working tirelessly for the cause of genuine community/nation building and good governance.
The event is expected to be attended by High Commissioners and Leaders of various African Countries and Communities. Also expected to attend the event are the Premier and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta (MLAs), Mayor and Councillors of the City of Edmonton and other municipalities, Members of Parliament (MPs), Alberta Industry and Community
Leaders, Africans, Members of the Media, Non-Profit Groups, Businesses, Academics and Albertans in general.
Performing live will be Music Producer - Emma Agu (renowned African artiste based in NewYork, who performed at President Obama's Inauguration Ceremony). Chisom Oz Lee (Nollywood Actress and Movie Producer)will also be entertaining.
