Embracing Multicultural Community Development: Connecting us all Conference 2014
Bringing together ethno-cultural community leaders, government and non-profits for the betterment of Edmonton.

Action for Healthy Communities, The Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers, the Edmonton Multicultural Coalition, Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations, The Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues, The City of Edmonton and Alberta Culture & Tourism partnered to organize the Connecting Us All: Embracing Multicultural Community Development Conference.

The conference will take place on Thursday 16th October from 6pm to 9pm and Friday 17th October from 8am to 5pm.

Opening ceremonies on Thursday begin at 6pm and will showcase multicultural performances. We will also hear from our keynote speaker Paul Latour from Hero Work about his experiences igniting the passion of volunteers, the community and businesses of Victoria to support local nonprofit organizations and their projects.

The interactive panels and dialogue based sessions on Friday will provide opportunities for sharing stories, connecting people with resources, addressing barriers and challenges and helping to foster networking and collaborations between mainstream agencies and members of our multicultural communities.

People who would benefit from the conference are service providers from mainstream agencies, members of multicultural communities and people working in community development.

There will also be an exciting Pre-conference session on Thursday 16th October from 1pm to 2.30pm. This FREE session is open to everyone whether or not you are attending the conference. It is an excellent opportunity to come and meet our keynote speaker Paul Latour who will be speaking about ‘Strategic Storytelling for Results’.

This conference would not be possible without financial support from Alberta Culture & Tourism, Edmonton Community Foundation, The City of Edmonton and community donations.

Conference fee is $100.00 per person.  Limited bursaries are available. An application form is available online which can be mailed or emailed.
